Dangerous Tiger Hunt

(Naarman got the idea to make a post about this, and though it’s got nothing to do with wow I’m gonna try it out anyway, so here you go)

Naarman, myself and our cat Timmy lives on the second floor. Whenever we open up a window we have to keep an eye on the cat so he wont fall down. Now I've always been very scared that Timmy would fall out, cause I was afraid he would get hurt or that he would run away – especially cause he still is a indoors cat atm and wouldn’t be able to find his way back home. Naarman has always been lot more calm about it and left the cat alone in a room with an open window *gasp*. Now nothing ever happened, Timmy just sat there by the window and looked out, without trying anything stupid. That made me a bit calmer but I always checked on him – just in case.

So the other day we came home really tired and I opened up a window right between me and Naarman thinking that it would be easy keeping an eye on him. For a long time I remembered to turn around and see if he was still there and he just sat there peacefully. Then I started to write something for the forum or something and completely forgot all about the cat – until I heard the sound of the cat jumping up to sit on the edge of the window. Now our old cat has done this many times without falling out cause I always manage to catch him and get him inside before anything happened. But this cat apparently isn’t that smooth going and as I slowly approached the window trying not to scare him he slipped and fell down. He landed on his feet and though we called out his name he ran away as fast as his little paws could carry him. Naarman and I grapped the keys to the apparntment and ran down the stairs: outside he was nowhere to be seen and he didn’t react on our calling. Timmy is a very frightened little kitty so I imagined that he was hiding somewhere and theres lots of places for a little kitty to hide. So I said to Naarman that we were never gonna see him again but he insisted that we would find him and get him safe back home. We started the search and I saw a red cat far away. Ofcourse as I got closer it was a different cat. I told the cat it was stupid and it should go home or find Timmy for me. We finally found Timmy in a garden and thought the hard part was over, but nooo. The fun was just beginning.

Timmy was so scared that he didn’t wanna approach us as if we were strangers. And every time we moved closer, he just ran further and further away. I finally managed to get him close enough to pick him up but when u carry a cat that’s very scared you suddenly feel like you a very far away from home. Cause Timmy panicked and wanted to get down again and I tried to hold him but he just used his claws and crawled up my shoulder and down my back. And so he was under a car. So there we spend a lot of time lying on the ground trying to get him out from there. Naarman got the idea to get the cat carrier and some food since we couldn’t carry him home without it even if we got to pick him up again. It was getting darker and I was very much in despair that the damn couldn’t understand we were trying to help him. Also there were cars and scooters around and I was afraid he would run out in front of one of them.

Naarman returned with the food but Timmy didn’t care (this is very unusual for our cat ^^). So Naarm tried to poke him out of there with a stick and that eventually worked. Timmy ran to an area full of threes and the grass was high enough to hide him. That made him hard to find and since he kept moving we sometimes lost sight of him. We tried to pick him up couple of times but none of us could hold him and he got Naarman a lot of scratches too. I guess Timmy got tired of fighting in the end and I finally got him in the cat carrier – no struggle at all. If he had continued to fight like he started out, we would have never caught him. Just go to show you can’t catch a cat that wont be caught. It can kick your ass, outrun you and even outsmart you. So im glad he decided to corporate a bit since we consider him a family member.

This probably only took place within 30mins but it felt like hours and all 3 of us ended up bleeding from somewhere. Naarman and I got lots of marks on our hands and arms (and I got some on my back too), and Timmy’s claws where all torn from fighting us. But that’s the price you pay to get a family member back and Timmy is all alive and well today. Im sorry that i was rigth that it was dangerous to open a window, but im glad Naarman was rigth that we would get Timmy back home. Now I haven’t dared to open a window since, but I hope the cat learned a lesson.

Guess there’s a feisty little Tiger in Timmy aswell ;)

Comments:
I understand your fears. I used to live on the 5th floor and my old cat Ramona always sat on the balcony and looked at the birds. I just figured she fall down someday, but she never did.
And one day i found her walking outside my window on the 5th floor. *panic* But she just turned around an went in again.
I was lucky.. or she was smart or...well. I dont think any of my other cats would have managed that. Thou I love them i must say they arent so bright always.

Kisses to Timmy

Ouch 5th floor is so much worse than second - well done Ramona.

Grats to Kiaras who managed to get through the long post AND to make a comment before Reinos! I hope he is ok :)

My father's cat did what Ramona was to coward to do..:p he jumped from the 4th floor of my grandparents balcony (15 meters or so). Which made us rather anxious for him, but after a week of limping and a bit of blood in the urin (we ofc got him to a vet to see to that) he was back to his normal catlike self again. He never ventured out on the ledge of a balcony again tho...

Uhmmm .... I'm worried about Reinos guys ....

Anyway ... its really hard to not percieve cats as humans ... they tend to be perfectly able of walking left and right on the 5th floor balcony ledge without breaking a sweat or losing balance.. .. They tend to forget themselves and fall down if they get scared or they see a bird or anything ...

I got my peace with that a couple of years ago, and just let my cat lead his cat life as he pleases, take him to the vet for some stiches once per year when he gets clawed badly, and just hope for the best ... after all, we don't close down and lock down fellow humans into the rooms so they don't get hit by a car, or thet they don't have an accident, we always just pray for the best :)

Your little tiger is hell of a ute little cat :D

phu, I got worried for a while further in the test I read, whats gonna happen next, yaks !.
Atleast you all got home safe.

Perun, i like your philosophy -)

Hm.. maybe Reinos is sick?
Do we have to do a raid to his home to se that he is alive?

Well now that everyone's safe and sound only one question remains.... Where's the youtube-link??

And poor naarman, now he can't even open a window when he's sweating under his blanket.
