Always online?

You have all heard that sentence "always online" a million times these days. Because its true; most of us ARE always online, we have our cellphone on 24/7 and we are reachable on emails and different chatprograms like Msn or Xfire. This is nothing new, i didnt discover this myself ;)
However, I have noticed something else that i find interesting. When i log in on msn for example (which my computer does automatically for me every time i turn it on!) i usually have a lot of contacts online. And im like "yay, a lot of people to talk to" - cause God forbid i dont have someone to entertain me while i check my email or play wow!
And then it turns out that though almost all my contacts are online - they all have their status set to "away", "brb" or "busy"? So i have all these friends on my list of contacts that are online, but none of them really has time to talk to me anyway.
So my conclusion of this observation would be that maybe we are scared that we will miss something if we are not always online, even when we dont really have the time or energy to talk to someone? We are always there as a little name on our friends contact list, but most of the time none of us are really present...we are online and away at the same time?
Anyway... brb ;)

I think it's more of "I'm not here for smalltalk or chat, but I'm here if you really need me" type of thing.
