Imps

Do you know where imps come from?
I do, and I want to tell you my story.
In the start of the warlock society all young warlocks was send out on a journey to a far away country to find themselves an imp. The journey were often full of dangers and many of the young warlocks didn’t return to us. If they died or decided to let this warlock business be is untold. As the years passed less and less warlocks passed the tests so the headmaster had to do something about it, if the warlocks wouldn’t be exterminated.
I was a young student, barely had powers to cast a curse, when I was called in to the headmaster.
He gave me a mission. I was to figure out how imps breed and try to breed imps to al the coming warlocks to be. Why he choose me I will never know, but the reason could be that many of the now living warlocks were to old or to young.
I started out making a list of all the warlocks on the compound that had a imp. I had to interrogate all the warlocks and imps.
Some of the warlocks and imps where very cheeky, others where pleasant to be around. The imps did not want to reveal how they breed so I had to try with persuasion, threat and at last I begged.
At last I understood how they did and how come they did not breed here in our land.
Every female imp is fertile 3 days a year, all independent of each other. The weather, sun, rain or something triggers the fertility. When she becomes fertile she has to give a lump of earwax to a male imp that has to spit on it every 3 hours for one day, then give it back to the female. Then the female has to put it in her belly button and keep it warm there while her eggs swim to the wax and mix with the spit of the male. Now the female has to find a place that is so warm that it will burn the wax. The mix between spit and wax in the warmth makes the egg hard. Then the female leaves the hardened egg where it is and go back. Oh.. did I forget to say it has to be full moon to hatch.
Guess if I had some interesting conversations with the imps, and I understand why they don’t want to tell me. I didn’t know if they just pulled my leg or if the story was true, but I found one imp that really wanted to help me out. She had wanted for so many years to make an egg and never had had the possibility here in this country because of the basic condition here. So I thought about the problem and I thought I could have a solution to it. So when she felt that the time was right she went to a male with her lump of wax. She came back to me the next day carrying it very carefully in her belly button. I took her to my house and showed her my oven and she thought it was worth a try.
The next full moon the egg hatch and out came 7 small imps. Very small. That was my first litter of imps and from that moment I have helped hatch all the imps that now is given to our young warlocks.
Of course I got a bigger house from the headmaster and I had a lot of ovens, but the nice feeling in my gut when I see this small imps hatch is worth it.
So now you know where your imps comes from and the long and hard way to breed them. I Paindora is the imp breeder, so don’t let my sweeties die.
