Rules and ethics of the online society
... or how to behave yourself.
Following rules is something I would ask all of you to cling to, and group and raid leaders to enforce. It would be nice if everyone accepted them, as it is a common behaviour, just like in RL when you say "thank you" or "please". You don't take things from the shop without paying, you don't drive through the red light etc. So these are NOT the rules of our guild, although going by them is a must because we don't want to make a bad name for our guild as being rude- these are the rules of WoW common behaviour, and they are almost the same in any other MMO game. We also want to avoid missunderstandings about gear and money among ourselves so just try to stick to them.
1. Listen to the team or raid leader. Even if you think he is wrong, let him make mistakes and learn from them - you will get better leaders that way, and also you will take position of leading groups later, and you would want your team mates to do what you say.
2. Never loot corpses during combat - there is enough time for that after the mess and confusion is over, so everyone can look at it in peace and determine if he needs it or not, instead of doing it in the middle of the fight - we avoid lots of equipment missunderstandings that way
3. Roll for chests unless its agreed upon othervise. You have no right to touch a chest, open it, look into it, or do whatever else you feel doing with it if you are not the roll winner. Doing this is considered ninja-looting, and is a pretty rude and irresponcible thing to do.
4. ALWAYS go greed on lockboxes, jewelry, precious stones etc, unless you DO need them, but you HAVE to work it out with the group befor you start playing. There is no way you can need a lockbox ... ever.
5. Everything you want to do, or the way you play, talk it over before you start so you don't need to do later.
6. Don't get into arguments. Don't curse, swear or yell at other players no matter what they do. There are many other more effective ways of solving issues, that don't involv making yourself an idiot.
7. Be patient.
8. You are playing with your team mates, and you are going to play with them alot during the game. Don't be greedy. Share things, after all if your mage gets a better piece of equipment, he will be able to do more next time. Same goes for all other classes. There is no place for greed in teams, especialy not in guild teams.
9. Learn to play along with people even if you disagree, compromise goes a long way.
10. Learn what pieces of equipment certain classes can't need. What you can't use, you can't need . You can need a thing that you cant use for a few levels, if there is no one else that can use it right away. You can not need a piece that your class can not use - for example a mage rolling need on piece of Plate.
11. Listen to the group leader.

Our RP in World of Warcraft
Can we make it better?
Do you think we should be more active on the RP front?. Personally I think we should, but roleplaying is as good as we make it ourselves. WoW offers a relatively rich world with loads of background lore, which is unfortunately not presented in a way that you get involved into it. You have to actively look for it. You have to read alot of lore even outside the game itself, to be able to percieve the entire story. Then, you have to build your own character's story and fit it into that world. That is the start. You begin your involvement in the world at that point, and decide on your own how actively you have to do it. We won't make any rules, or any demands about it, because you all can choose your own way of gameplay. It would be nice if you make at least a very shallow outline of your character so that when we do participate in RP or RP PvP events, we have something to play with. Our guild has a long history, I will be thinking about the ways to incorporate it into the general WoW storyline.
Cheers!

Initiative!
... or how do you help things get a kickstart.
Currently Tiger has arround 80 members. That is not a small and not a large number, in fact in my opinon it is "just enough" to stay manageable and friendly without having to go to extra definitions of rules and regulations to keep things under control. For now we will try sticking to this number and see how it works out. We have arround 10 players that have attained level 60, most of the others in the 20-40 zone. I hope most of you reach the level cap - at your own pace. If we manage to keep the current online ratio of arround 10-15+ Tigers online, we are in a decent spot when you 20-40 guys hit the 60 number, as that is a number that we will be able to do number of things on day-to-day basis without help outside the alliance. We will also be able to mount raids to Zul Gurub without serious effort to get enough people, as we do now, and then we know we are on a good route to even higher instances.
However, Tiger is not and never will be a pure raiding, or pure-anything guild, as long as I'm in charge of things. There is PvP, RP ... lots of things that we can do on day to day basis without having to do the same thing over and over. Key is, that YOU have to have initiative in things if you want them to happen. If you get a great idea, and want it to happen, just get on with it. Think, plan, organise - and don't be dissapointed if it fails the first time arround. 80 members - 5% of you - 4 players - decide to act uppon a great idea, something will be happening EVERY single weekend. Do not wait for things to happen on their own, cause most likely they won't. Act - initiate - do things. We need doers. There are plenty of thinkers everywhere - abundance of them. People who know or think they know how things "should be done". We got enough of them. We need doers. People that want to get their hands dirty. People not affraid of getting blisters. People that don't need things pointed out. Real tigers we need. People that stand their ground and push forward no matter what.

Things forgotten ...
Dear Tigers, in case you wonder where has your leader dissapeared since Sunday - he forgot to pay the %#%%"% phonebill, so he got disconnected.
Most likely that I'm coming back today, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works when I come home from work today.
There was a raid yesterday, i hope you managed to organise some expeditional forces to alliance teritory ...
Cheers!

Every coin has two sides
... or how to balance two sides of a guild such as ours.
Great article here inspired me:
http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/568
Basicaly our guild falls somewhere along those lines. We are mostly so called casual players, however WoW is a game made in such way that a huge part of it remains out of reach for guilds that can not foster enough high end players - and we don't want that. We want to do it all. However, being really capable of downing engame content on regular basis comes with a price, as "casualness" of the guild fades away - and we don't want that either.
Basicaly we want to have our cake, and eat it too. Which will take lots of our nerves in the long run, but will also make our existence within wow much more fun.
Tiger has to offer something to our high end players, and we have to offer something to our casuals. If we bend too far into one side, the other side will rot away.
It will take alot of tolerance and initiative and ability to find a middle ground to achieve that.
To be clear of one thing - each and every member of Tiger has the ability to organise events. Just make sure you stay within the rules of our guild and with sense of good taste. We want to promote our guild, not achieve a bad name. Everything else is up to each and every one of you. Tiger will be what we make out of it.

Looking forward
... when XP stops flowing.
If you play the game more or less serious you are sooner or later hit a wall called Level 60, when everything, or most of the things you based your everyday gameplay just stop dead. No more xp and no more that little bar that slowly raises with every killed mob and with every finished quest. You still do quests, but only for reputation or some nice rewards, and that in the end doesnt bring you any new levels and new skills. It is far from being over though. The only big difference is that while before that moment the xp bar pulled you forward even when you were bored, it happens no more. YOU have to set your OWN goals to achieve and slowly crawl towards them.
Huge part of WoW happens after you hit 60, but you have to work to be able to experience it. First time we went to Zul'Gurub I realised that these bosses and these encounters are nothing like the ones we met before.
Since the beginning Tiger has never aimed to be a hardcore raiding guild, but we want to be "up there" and do the things. Good equipment (epics) are not and will never be a goal itself at least on guild level (although you can make it your personal goal), they will be only means that will allow us to thread into more dangerous places. Goal always was, and still is - to have fun in a group of friends. Most of us work and have other obligations, and having another work in wow that you actually pay to do is out of the question. We want to go to most strange and amazing places, and kill the most amazing and dangerous creatures, and in the end brag about it!.
Every member of Tiger needs to improve himself, set his own goals, get better in doing what he does because there is ALWAYS room for improvement in whatever it is you do. Your fellow guildie next to you in that next big fight will count on you to do it good, and you will feel great after you succeed in doing it, and you will feel great when, after a tough and long battle, after months of preparation, everything is dead, and we stand over the body of that dangerous boss that we were trying, and failing to kill for some time, and you will be able to say WE'RE GOOD!
So that is one of the dirrections you can think of after you hit the 60 mark. You have other options also, with RP, PvP, whatever rocks your boat and allows you to have fun. Tiger will never in any way restrict it's members. You just have to realise that whatever you decide to do, you will need to work on it, and work on it for some time, but the joy of success will be that much greater afterwards.

Class specific armor upgrade!
... helping guild members to dump less hard earned gold into AH profiteer's pockets.
When you get close to level 60, most of the people start gathering parts of their class-specific set (Tier 0). As of 1.10, Tier 0 armor can be transformed into Tier 0.5 by finishing a series of quests - that off course takes quite a sum of money if you try buying each part in the auction house. This thread will briefly explain what you have to do to gather components for the quests, and who inside our guild can make the things for you, once you gather all the components of course. It will be a progress - report style of guide, as I will be adding info, as I'm finishing parts of the quest myself.
1 - You need to raid Stratholme, Sholomance and Upper Blackrock Spire to get the parts of the Tier 0 set.
2 - Once you have the armor, you need to talk to an orc in Thrall's chamber in Orgrimmar, to initiate the quests. You need to have the bracers for this part. He will tell you to go to Silithus and gather 15 Venom Samples from the spiders and scorpions just outside the Cenarion Hold. Drop rate is good and you will finish it in no time. Go back to the orc, you have to pay 20g and he upgrades your bracers.
3 - In folowup to the former quest you get to go to Gadgetzan-Tanaris, where you get a quest to gather the following items
edit: added names of our members that can make you one of the parts - you have to bring the raw materials of course.
1x Delicate Arcanite Converter - Nurgs
........1 x Arcanite Bar - Voda
..................... 1 x Thorium Bar
..................... 1 x Arcane Crystal
........1 x Ironweb Spider Silk
4 x Greater Eternal Essence
10 x Stonescale Oil - Voda, Zaigerne
25 x Volcanic ashes
40 Gold

Zul'Gurub progress report #2
... we are improving
We decided to go to Venoxis this time, and he is a snake boss, with 4 adds and a nasty area effect that does 4000 damage. Some confusion while doing the adds ended with a nice little whipe (not from the adds, but we were not able to handle Venoxis afterwards).

On second try, we managed to get him down to 30%, this shot shows him arround 50.

However, then he got bugged, and got stuck in the doorway. After failing to reset, with a general consensus of the raid group, we abused him for a nice group photo - not many groups out there have their group photo with Venoxis - oh what an honor! :P

Funny moment of the raid: A nice guy from the guild "Raiders of the lost dwarf" comes to help us out, and I think it was Favio that greets him with "Greetings - found the dwarf yet?"
Stay tuned for the next edition of ZG progress report next week "Revenge of the fallen 2"
